Although it is not Easter yet, supporters of GVC1 have been witnessing a resurrection already. After the disaster year 2015, in which doom and gloom fell upon the team, GVC1 has started 2016 in good shape. Four of the last five matches were turned into a victory. That means: 12 out of 15 points! Amongst the victories were the 3-2 and 2-1 wins in the derbies against vv Kesteren and EMM Randwijk 1 (see match reports).
The players of GVC1 celebrated their victory in style, as shown by this video.
Now, before becoming too faithful, we should realize that a top 5 position is out of reach, and the 2nd period may be a target too high as well (though in theory still possible). But ensuring a firm mid table position definitively lies within the scope of possibilities. And of course that gives much more hope and raison d’être to the supporters than ending up somewhere below at the bottom of the table.
The program for the coming weeks, however, is not easy. In two weeks time, the derby against vv Wageningen is scheduled. And in the coming Easter weekend, GVC plays the away game against Oranje Blauw in Nijmegen. The match will be played on Silent Saturday – hopefully, however, it will continue to feel like Resurrection Sunday (and not like Good Friday)…
