Warm Welcome to Our New Ladies’ Coach, Vasiliki

As we gently moved into the new season of 2024-2025, GVC is excited to announce some changes within the club. Perhaps some of you have already seen our new trainer and coach on the field with the ladies, but now we would like to officially announce: Vasiliki Akridopoulou is our new ladies’ trainer on Mondays and will be coaching the Sunday ladies’ team as well!

This month marks the start of something new, and we are thrilled to welcome Vasiliki. She brings with her a wealth of experience as a player. She has had an impressive career, playing for teams like AONF Attalos, AE Saronikos Aigina, P.A.O.K., GVC, SKV, and K.S.V. Fortissimo. Alongside her playing career, she has coached at local schools and academies, working with kids up to 14. Vasiliki has taken courses in coaching principles, tactics, player psychology, technical skills and understanding fair play and respect. Her passion for helping at trainings over the years inspired her to pursue coaching and earn her UEFA diploma.

Our previous Monday trainer, Alex, mentioned wanting to step down, and Robert also decided to take a step back from coaching the Sunday ladies in order to focus on his own playing again. When we started thinking about potential new trainers and coaches for the ladies’ teams, Vasiliki quickly came to mind. She was already familiar with GVC as a WUR student player in 2013.

We are extremely pleased that Vasiliki was enthusiastic about taking on this new challenge. In the upcoming season, she will focus on training the ladies on Mondays and coaching the Sunday team.

Here’s a message from Vasiliki herself:

“I am excited to officially join GVC as your new trainer & coach! Having played for many years and gained experience on and off the field, it feels truly special to now step into this new role within a club that already feels like home. I look forward to working with all of you, growing together as a team, and continuing to build on the strengths we already have.

My goal is to create an environment where we not only improve our skills but also support and push each other to be our best. Football is not just about tactics and technique, it’s about teamwork, respect, and having fun. I am confident that we can achieve great things this season.

Let’s make this season one to remember 😉

See you on the pitch!

We look forward to the 2024-2025 season under Vasiliki’s guidance!

Warm welcome,

GVC
